Process Capability of Query Time

This four-day course presents the MINITAB tools and statistical techniques that are critical to most quality improvement initiatives undertaken in service industries. The course focuses on making good business decisions based upon the practical application of statistics. Prerequisite: none.

As an attendee, you will learn how to:

  • Decrease the time required for statistical analysis by learning to navigate MINITAB’s windows quickly and structure data properly. Learn how to use, interpret and customize many MINITAB graphs, including histograms, plots, boxplots, bar charts, interval plots and time series plots. Assess the normality of your data using graphs and basic statistics.
  • Augment your graphical analysis skills using MINITAB’s powerful statistical tools. Determine the appropriate sample size to assure confidence in analysis results. Use t-tests, ANOVA, and variance tests to show evidence of a process change or improvement. Learn how to explore critical features in your processes by using statistical modeling tools that help to uncover and describe relationships between variables.
  • Evaluate measurement systems (Gage R&R, attribute agreement for discrete data) and process stability (variable and attribute control charts) to improve and control your processes. Learn how to utilize important capability analysis tools for normal, non-normal, and attribute data to evaluate your processes relative to internal and customer specifications.
  • Strengthen analysis skills with tools used to explore and describe relationships between variables. Understand the benefit of designed experiments in transactional & business applications. Learn to discover and describe features in data related to the effect and impact of time, and how to forecast future process behavior. Utilize graphical and quantitative approaches to describe similarities and differences between the effects of various factors on important quality characteristics while finding and quantifying the effect that factors have on the probability of a critical event occurring.

Tools covered: Pareto Charts, Time Series plots, Individual Value Plots, Bar charts, Histograms, Boxplots, Dotplots, Scatterplots, Tables, Measures of Location and Variation, t-Tests, Proportion Tests, Tests for Equal Variance, Power and Sample Size, Tables and Chi-Square Analysis, Correlation, Simple Linear Regression, ANOVA, Attribute Agreement for Binary, Nominal and Ordinal Data; Kappa and Kendall’s Coefficients; Gage R&R; Variables and Attribute Control Charts; Capability Analysis for Normal, Non-normal and Attribute data, GLM; Binary Logistic Regression; Factorial Designs; Time Series Tools Including Exponential Smoothing, Trend Analysis, and Decomposition.
Optional topics are special additions to standard Minitab training workshops, and extend each course by about 1/2 day. All Minitab training workshops use the latest, current version of Minitab, and authorized Minitab training materials.
This workshop is composed of the following Minitab workshops:

  1. MINITAB Essentials and Basic Statistical Analysis – overview of Minitab, data entry and basic charts, basic data analysis, importing and manipulating data – with many examples from service industries; one and two sample t-tests, proportion and Chi-Square tests, Regression, Analysis of Variance (2 days)
  2. Statistical Quality Analysis for Service Quality – Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Analysis
  3. Statistical Modelling for Service Quality – General Linear Model; Binary Logistic Regression; Factorial Designs; Time Series Tools Including Exponential Smoothing, Trend Analysis, and Decomposition

Each workshop participant receives an official Minitab workbook and data files, as well as a certificate for Recertification Units.
